The Melissa Lady Cardinals are headed back to Austin, ready to defend their title in the UIL Softball 5A Division 1 State Championship game on Friday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Texas Red & Charline McCombs Field. With a near-perfect 37-1 record and the No. 1 national ranking, the Lady Cardinals have dominated all season and look to close out the year with back-to-back state titles.
This powerhouse team has made history, breaking both the state and national records for home runs in a single season with an incredible 121 homers and counting. Their explosive offense, disciplined defense, and experienced leadership have fueled an unforgettable playoff run. As they prepare to take the field in Austin, the Lady Cardinals have their sights set on finishing what they started and bringing another championship home to Melissa.
