Melissa High School student-athletes, seniors Hanna Waters and Ja’Bray Young, participated in National Signing Day last week, each signing their letter of intent to play a collegiate sport.
Hanna Waters signed her letter of intent to play soccer at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Hanna was twice-named 2nd Team All-District, and last year was named 1st Team All-District.
“Last year, Hanna had 10 goals and 5 assists, with the majority of those coming in the run to the state tournament,” shared coach Manuel Avila. “In fact, Hanna’s return last season prompted a great run of play for for the team, as she was one of the catalysts who led us to the first state tournament appearance in school history.”
Ja’Bray Young signed his letter of intent to play football at Stephen F. Austin State University. Ja’Bray is a two-time All-State Running Back, 1st Team All-Area Running Back, and 1st Team All-District Running Back and Outside Linebacker. He was also named District and Area Freshman Defensive Player of the Year.
