Two Melissa High School student athletes recently participated in National Signing Day, each signing a letter of intent to their respective college or university.
Breelyn Armstrong signed a letter of intent on Thursday to play football at Simpson College in Iowa. Armstrong played running back and inside linebacker for the Melissa Cardinals and was named second team All-District.
Taylor Carney signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to play basketball at Southwestern University. Carney was a forward and a speaking captain for the Melissa Lady Cardinal basketball team and played on varsity for three years. She has received Academic All-State from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and the Texas Girls Coaches Association. She was named first team All-District and All-Texomaland Honorable Mention.
The athletes were joined by family members as they signed their letters in the Melissa High School gym during mega lunch. Photo ops followed with coaches, teammates, and friends.
