At the regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, Jan. 13, the trustees of Melissa Schools unanimously voted to approve the extension of Superintendent Keith Murphy’s contract.
Mr. Murphy has served Melissa Schools since 2014. His superintendent contract was last extended after a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees in January 2016.
“It is hard to believe that my family has been in Melissa for our sixth year,” Murphy said. “We are so very blessed to be part of this community. I am truly thankful for the trust expressed by our school board. I am inspired to keep working for the families that make Melissa a very special place.”
George James, Board President, shared, “Mr. Murphy is a true team player and is very passionate about the welfare of kids. He is always open to meeting with anyone to discuss an issue and always works to support each campus. Mr. Murphy continues to foster positive relationships within the community and is a true advocate of Melissa ISD.”
Paul Anderson, Board Secretary, added, “Mr. Murphy excels at placing individuals in the position for which they are best suited. The atmosphere within the district is excellent with the staff pulling together as a team to achieve common goals, while staying true to our core values. On top of that, it is evident that he supports every student program. He and his administrative team have an in-depth understanding of school finance, and make it work for our staff and kids. He continues to evaluate our facilities to make the most efficient use of our physical plant while planning for the future.”
