Trey Smith has been selected to serve as the associate principal at the Sixth Grade Center beginning this fall as the Melissa Middle School campus expands.
Mr. Smith has served as the assistant principal to Marcus Eckert at Melissa Middle School since 2018. Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, Mr. Smith will oversee the Sixth Grade Center, located at 2950 Cardinal Drive in what was previously the middle school facility. Building renovations have already begun.
The Sixth Grade Center will function as an extension of the existing Melissa Middle School facility, as part of the district’s continuous efforts to accommodate student population growth at Melissa Schools.
Mr. Smith shared, “Since the day I joined Team Melissa, the administration, teachers, school board, and community have treated me like family. I’m so excited about the opportunity to continue serving our middle school families and, in particular, the students, parents, and staff of the Sixth Grade Center.”
Kim Boedeker, Deputy Superintendent, added, “Mr. Smith exemplifies all things Team Melissa and leads with passion. The expansion of our middle school to include the Sixth Grade Center will further support our students and staff as growth continues at Melissa Schools.”
A timeline of the district’s development milestones from 2015 to present day, along with a list of current and future projects, is available online at www.melissaisd.org/growth.
Announcements will continue to be published on the district website and shared on the Melissa ISD social media accounts.
