Melissa High School choir students, Madison Courtney, Kaycee Fender, and Andru Wilson, were selected to advance to the area competition on Jan. 11, 2020, each vying for a spot in the Texas Small School All-State Choir.

The students competed at pre-area on Nov. 14, 2019. In preparation for the pre-area competition, the students learned “Kyrie” by Nicola Porpora and “For Us There Is No Other Help but Thee” by Pavel Chesnokov. The audition required the singers to perform a small selection from each piece of music, and to sight-read eight measures of music, all before a panel of five judges.
