When and why did you decide that you wanted to become a teacher?

I’ve known since kindergarten that teaching is what I wanted to do. I had so many great teachers growing up that it was an easy choice to make.

What is your favorite lesson to teach?

In reading, I love teaching theme. The students have to use clues and evidence in the text to find the big picture in a book. They start to see the book the way the author wants it to be seen and not just read it to get through the pages. It is exciting to watch them uncover the layers in a text and bring it all together.

What is your favorite Core Value and why?

Integrity favorite Core Value because it takes so many other qualities to have it. It’s about being honest, responsible, and true even in tough situations. For students, having integrity inside the classroom can help form solid relationships and boost their academic success. On the outside, in the real world, it’s about them being the best person they can be even when no one is looking. This is true for all of us.

What is the best thing about being a Cardinal?

The best thing about being a Cardinal is that we work together for the greater good of our community. I see it in our schools, our neighborhoods, families, and even different sporting events.
