All Melissa ISD buildings are closed through May 4, 2020 and until further notice. We transitioned to remote instructional support on Monday, March 23, 2020. Please visit the link below for the latest updates, campus plans, online resources, and frequently asked questions and answers.
Students at Melissa Schools will participate in STAAR testing during the first and second weeks of May. Please read below for important testing dates and other information specific to your child’s school and grade level.
Students should get a good night’s sleep and have a healthy breakfast the morning of testing.
Kindergarten through 2nd Grade do not test. Testing begins early – please be on time. The campus will be closed to visitors and volunteers. Students are encouraged to bring a great book to read after the test.
Students need to bring a water bottle, book to read after finishing the test, and any snacks/mints they may want throughout testing. Students can order a tray lunch from the cafeteria or bring their lunch (no microwaves are available). The most important thing is for students to take their time and try their best.
Snacks must be contained in a ziplock bag and choices that are not noisy or distracting, such as chips. Drinks are limited to bottled water and no more than two bottles of water will be allowed in the testing rooms. On May 9-10, 7th grade students will not have athletics before school and are to report to the cafeteria by 8:30 a.m. On May 11-12, 8th grade students will not have athletics before school and are to report to the cafeteria by 8:30 a.m.
Testing will also include students who are retesting from prior administrations in these subject areas. Please refrain from scheduling any appointments during this time, if at all possible.
