Superintendent Keith Murphy shared a statement Monday morning regarding the election and the preliminary results.
“One of the many things that drew me to Melissa was the level of commitment from the community and from parents to the success of kids,” said Murphy. “I’ve always believed that apathy is one of the greatest evils in society. Throughout this election, it was refreshing to see so many people passionate about our students’ education.”
Murphy added, “In a world that is often divided, it’s important that we commit to a shared vision. That vision should not exclude diverse thinking, but it must be shared and we must work together. I want to thank each of our candidates for their time and efforts, and congratulate the incumbents.”
Saturday’s vote totals are unofficial at this time. Provisional votes may need to be tallied, and the votes will need to be canvassed before they are official. Canvass of returns is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16 at the Melissa Schools Home Office, located at 1904 Cooper Street.
