Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, Melissa ISD will offer full-day Pre-Kindergarten to qualifying children who are four years old on or before Sept. 1, who live within the Melissa ISD boundary.
Qualifying Pre-Kindergarten students will attend the Melissa Ridge Education Center. The school day hours are 7:40 a.m. to 3:12 p.m.
Melissa Schools previously offered a three-hour qualifying Pre-Kindergarten program. The transition to full-day Pre-K is in response to new state legislation which mandates that school districts offer a full-day qualifying Pre-Kindergarten program.
The focus of Pre-Kindergarten is to develop oral language, prerequisite skills for emergent readers and early math concepts, and to build readiness skills for successful entry into Kindergarten. The program is free for qualifying students.
For eligibility information and to enroll a child in Pre-K, please visit the Pre-Kindergarten Eligibility page, linked below.
Children who are already enrolled in Pre-K for the 2019-2020 school year will automatically be placed into the full-day program. If you wish to remove your child from the Pre-K program, please contact Walter Perez, Executive Director of Elementary Education, at email@example.com or 972-837-2411.
