Collin County Elections reported Saturday evening that based on preliminary accumulated vote totals, the Melissa ISD 2021 bond proposition passed with 79.8 percent votes in favor.

Keith Murphy, Superintendent of Melissa Schools, shared a statement Monday in response to the bond proposition passing.

“I think the most significant thing I can say at this point is that we are so grateful for the continued support of our community,” said Mr. Murphy. “We are a highly successful school district because we have always been supported by our community and our churches. We are truly grateful to have the opportunity to move into our next phase of construction. It is exciting to establish the future footprint of Melissa Schools. I think it is especially important to emphasize the success we have when we work together: our kids benefit when we work together. There are so many things today that feel divisive and our school district is a place where we can rally together to create a great environment for our students. We are truly blessed in Melissa.”

Growth and development updates will continue to be published on the Melissa ISD website and social media, and will be outlined at melissaisd.org/growth. Information regarding the 2021 bond proposition can be found at melissaisdbond.com.
