Notice of Internet/Phone Connectivity Issues Due to Region Internet Outage

Like many other school districts in our region, Melissa ISD is experiencing intermittent internet connectivity outages throughout our network, due to a hardware failure that occurred Thursday morning at Zayo, the contractor for the Region 10 Fiber Network. Zayo is working to restore full service, but we have not yet received a time estimate for when the issue will be resolved.

These intermittent outages impact not only our internet connection throughout Melissa ISD, but also our phones. In addition, many of our teachers are pivoting to work remotely in order to continue preparing for the return to school next week.

With that said, we ask that all parents and guardians utilize email as the primary means of contacting our schools until our internet service is fully restored. Generally speaking, our campus receptionists and registrars can either answer your question or direct your question to the appropriate person, particularly when it comes to the Parent Portal, student enrollment and registration, updating parent contact information, general school procedures, and student access to Schoology. Our district website is also a comprehensive resource for parents.

If your student is encountering problems when trying to log in to Schoology, please make sure that you have read the instructions and troubleshooting section listed on the Schoology resource page, located at, prior to reaching out to the school for assistance.

At this time, we are focusing on getting students logged in to Schoology. Next week, we expect to share instructions for how parents and guardians can activate their own Schoology account and get connected to their student’s account.
