Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Melissa Schools will be functioning remotely through April 24, 2020 and until further notice. Beginning March 23, 2020, our district will transition to remote instructional support for class assignments and activities. We will operate online during virtual office hours throughout Melissa ISD.

Virtual office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

During the remote instruction period, it will be important for parents and guardians to share feedback as plans and processes are rolled out. We know that adjustments will need to be made in order to make remote instruction manageable for all families. We are prepared to continue to improve as we move forward.

If something is not working, please first pause and know that we will find a solution. Then, please contact your child’s teacher or a school administrator with the details of your problem. Staff emails are listed in our Staff Directory. You may also email the district at connect@melissaisd.org to share your questions and/or concerns.

Food & Technology Needs

If your household does not have an internet connection and/or a device, and you have not yet been in touch with the district, please fill out the Family Needs Form or email connect@melissaisd.org. Delivery of devices will not begin until Tuesday at the earliest.

We understand that many families are overwhelmed and experiencing feelings of uncertainty. We are here for you. Our team understands the importance of being flexible, offering grace, evaluating feedback, and making adjustments to better support our students and families.

The latest information regarding remote instruction will be available on our Remote Instructional Support web page at www.melissaisd.org/remote. Please bookmark this web page for your reference. If the Melissa ISD website becomes unavailable at any time, please try loading it again within 5-10 minutes, as we are dealing with an unprecedented number of concurrent online visitors during this time.

The principal of your child’s school will be communicating to parents/guardians the campus plan for remote instructional support. All plans should be sent out by the end of the day Friday, March 20, 2020.

How to Stay Connected During Remote Instruction

  1. Website Overview: Melissa ISD has created a web page at www.melissaisd.org/remote that will be regularly updated to outline the latest health-related updates at Melissa Schools, district plans, resources for our families, and frequently asked questions and answers.
  2. Parent Contact Information: If you are a parent or guardian of a Melissa ISD student, please log in to Parent Portal and make sure that your contact information is up-to-date, so that you will receive district- and school-wide communications through Remind. Please double-check your email address and phone number, in particular. You may also download the Remind app and update your notification settings to manage how you receive alerts from Melissa Schools.
  3. Email Communication: As we begin remote instructional support at Melissa Schools, our staff members will be working from home and can be reached directly by email. Email is the primary means of communication at this time, as all district buildings and offices will be closed. In some cases, teachers may also communicate with families through Remind. If you need to locate an email address, visit our Staff Directory.
  4. Follow the District Online: Please follow Melissa ISD and your student’s school on social media (namely on Facebook and Twitter) and routinely visit the district website at www.melissaisd.org for the latest information related to Melissa Schools.
