Melissa Middle School will host a mental health resource meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. featuring guest speaker Vanita Halliburton, co-founder and executive chairman of the Grant Halliburton Foundation. The meeting will highlight the #SAFE youth education program, which includes resources to assist parents and guardians in:

  • recognizing signs of distress in teens,
  • promoting brain health,
  • fostering resiliency and strong coping skills,
  • knowing the warning signs of suicidal behavior,
  • finding help for a struggling teen, and
  • implementing protective measures to keep teens safe.

The goal of the meeting is to share information regarding mental health challenges affecting teens, while also providing parents with tools to help them navigate those challenges.

This meeting will be open to the public; the community is welcome to attend.
