The Melissa High School and Melissa Middle School winterguards recently competed in the North Texas Colorguard Association (NTCA) winterguard contests, where both guards took first place in their respective classes.
The Melissa Middle School winterguard competed in the Cadet Novice class. After earning first place with a score of 83.8, the guard was promoted to the Cadet Regional A class – the highest division for middle school competitors.
The Melissa High School winterguard competed in the Scholastic AA class. After earning first place with a score of 68.28, the guard was promoted to the Scholastic A class. Their high score kept them in first place in the upper division, and set a school record, being the highest ranking guard score in Melissa High School history.
The Melissa guard program is under the direction of Taylor Tucker.
