The Melissa Reading Festival returns for a third year on Thursday, Nov. 8 at Harry McKillop Elementary. The two-hour event is free to attend and will feature guest authors, performances, food vendors, and reading activities for the whole family from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Activities and entertainment include a helicopter landing, classroom reading activities, interactive plays by Colin Wells, and a performance by the MMS Performing Arts. Musician Matt Nix returns. High school clubs MTX Unplugged, Guitar Club, and Street Performers will also perform.

Children’s author Patricia Polacco will be in attendance along with authors Mary Carol Strother and Mariah Leeson.

Food vendors include In-N-Out Burger, Kona Ice, Cross My Heart Pies, and Crumble Shack Bakery.

Meal tickets for In-N-Out Burger can be purchased in advance through Monday, Nov. 5. Please note that there will be a limited amount of meals available for purchase the night of the festival. Meal tickets cost $5 each. Click here to print the order form.
