Melissa High School’s 2019 Homecoming football game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6 at Cardinal Stadium, where the Melissa Cardinals will take on the Frisco High School Raccoons. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
Earlier that week on Wednesday, Sept. 4 is the third annual Melissa Homecoming Celebration, a three-part, community-wide Cardinal event featuring tailgating, the Homecoming Parade, and a pep rally.
The following events will take place on Sept. 4, 2019.
The community is invited to tailgate beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the designated tailgating area, located north of Melissa Middle School on the east side of Cardinal Dr., up to Bexar Ave. The community shall begin tailgating no earlier than 5:00 p.m. Tailgating spots are on a first-come, first-served basis.
The 2019 Melissa Homecoming Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. This year’s parade theme is “Cage the Raccoons!”. Prizes will be awarded to the top three best-decorated floats. Doug Zadow will lead the parade as the grand marshal.
Businesses, organizations, and clubs are invited to register a float for the parade. Registration is free and should be completed online no later than Monday, Sept. 2.
The parade will begin at the intersection of Cardinal Dr. and Harrison St., continue northeast on Cardinal, turn right onto Surrey, right onto Barker, right onto Scott, left onto Cardinal, and end at the intersection of Cardinal and Haskell.

A community pep rally at Cardinal Stadium will follow the Homecoming Parade. The pep rally will begin once the parade ends, at approximately 7:30 p.m.
