The Melissa High School Speech and Debate program has been recognized as a member of the National Speech and Debate Association’s (NSDA) prestigious 100 Club.

Every year, students earn points and degrees in the NSDA based on competitive and service-related activities. Melissa debaters and speakers, under the direction of Kyle Brenner and Megan Moore, have combined for more than 100 NSDA degrees on their way to being ranked in the top of high schools nationwide.

This award caps a season in which the team competed at Harvard University and qualified five debate students for the UIL State Debate Tournament and six students for the NSDA National Tournament.

“Ms. Moore and I are extremely excited that the National Speech and Debate Association has honored the hard work and dedication of our students here at Melissa High School,” Brenner said Friday. “We hope to continue to work with our amazingly talented students to keep the accolades coming.”

Join us in congratulating our Speech and Debate students on this wonderful accomplishment.
