Melissa High School One Act Play advances to state for second year

Melissa was named the 2019 UIL 4A One Act Play State Runner-Up.

Bella Walker was awarded Honorable Mention All Star Cast. Thad Baker was awarded All Star Cast.

Melissa High School theatre’s One Act Play, “The Old Man and the Old Moon”, advances to the 2019 UIL 4A One Act Play State Meet next week, after competing at the regional meet last Friday. This is Melissa’s second consecutive appearance at the One Act Play state meet.

Melissa took first place at the district, bi-district, and area One Act Play competitions this year, and was named the runner-up at regionals.

Three students received individual awards at regionals: Bella Walker as ‘Matheson’ was named Honorable Mention All Star Cast; Rachel Wresh as the ‘Old Woman’ was named All Star Cast; and Thaddeus Baker as the ‘Old Man’ was named Best Actor.

The cast and crew of “The Old Man and the Old Moon” will perform at the state meet next Tuesday, April 23 at the Round Rock Performing Arts Center. Performance times are still to be announced.

The cast of “The Old Man and the Old Moon” includes Thaddeus Baker, Rachel Wresh, Annabella Walker, Dylan Schmidt, Logan Lowery, Mason Barnes, Chloe Morris, Emily Tubbs, Madison Courtney, Drew Richardson, Andru Wilson, Mattie McGrady, Alexyss McClure, Naomi Mitchell, and Ivan Yanez. Crew members include Abby Heath, Grace Lofaro, Skyler Harman, Bella Blankenship, and Braelyn Van Schepen. Alternates include Amari Anderson, Audrey Coloumbe, Claire Drake, Lilly Heard, Natalie Somers, and Connor Lansford.

The Melissa High School theatre program is under the direction of Megan Moore and Kyle Brenner.
