Melissa High School band student wins Lone Star Youth Winds Concerto Competition

Melissa High School student Jasper Murphy has been selected as the winner of the Lone Star Youth Winds Concerto Competition. Murphy is the first “small school” student to ever win the competition, being from a school in class 4A and below.

Murphy will be featured with the Lone Star Winds on Sunday, May 17 at the Dallas Performance Hall at 2:30 p.m. He will perform the clarinet concerto “Black Dog” by Scott McAllister in conjunction with the Lone Star Youth Winds.

Murphy is a junior in the Melissa High School Wind Ensemble and is a student of Mr. Kenneth Miller.
