More than 50 students from Melissa High School were awarded scholarships at the Melissa Education Foundation’s Senior Scholarship Ceremony on May 24. The awards totaled nearly $105,000.

MEF offers a number of scholarship opportunities each spring to the graduating class of Melissa High School. Student applicants provide teacher evaluations, a letter of recommendation, and an essay response.

At the May 24 ceremony, Rebecca Hutchison received $8,000 from several scholarship donors, including a $1,000 donation from the Melissa Rotary Club in honor of her father and former Rotarian, Rusty Hutchinson.

Bryce Norwood received a $1,000 scholarship from the Masonic Lodge of Melissa. The Crafty Ladies group awarded a total of $3,500 to seven students. The Zadow Family awarded $16,000 in total to students, including a $4,000 scholarship to Aaron Vaughan.

“The scholarship night was a huge success,” said MEF director Kellie Maynard. “Thanks to all our donors who continue to believe in furthering the education of these students!”
