The Melissa High School colorguard is ranked among the top high school colorguards in the nation after qualifying for the finals last month at the Winterguard International (WGI) region competition in San Antonio.
This year the high school colorguard is competing in both local and international circuits. Following the WGI competition, the colorguard took first place at the North Texas Colorguard Association (NTCA) contest at Northwest High School. Their next competition is Feb. 21 in Haltom City.
The Melissa Middle School colorguard is competing locally in the high school division for the first time this year. The middle school colorguard took first place at the NTCA contest at Lovejoy last month, outscoring 10 middle schools and 15 high schools in the Novice classification, in addition to being promoted in classification.
The colorguard program at Melissa Schools is under the direction of Taylor Tucker.
