The Melissa City Council issued a proclamation on Tuesday declaring the month of January 2019 as School Board Recognition Month, recognizing the efforts of the Melissa Schools Board of Trustees.
“The proclamation highlights the work of the MISD Board Members in being strong advocates for public education and communicating the needs of the school district to the public,” stated a press release issued by the City of Melissa. “The proclamation also emphasized the Council’s appreciation for the many hours MISD Board Members spend in the performance of their duties.”
Mayor Reed Greer and council members presented the proclamation to Paul Anderson, Melissa ISD Board Secretary, and Duke Sparks, Director of Community Partnerships.
Melissa Schools will honor the Board of Trustees at the next school board meeting on Monday, Jan. 14. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Home Office, located at 1904 Cooper Street.
In addition, ahead of Monday’s school board meeting, the community is invited to attend a special event at Melissa Middle School celebrating the Board of Trustees. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. in the middle school gym.
