Superintendent Murphy shared a follow-up letter on Tuesday, Nov. 17 regarding the Learn @ Home days. Click here to read it.
This information was sent to Melissa ISD parents and guardians via Remind.

All Melissa ISD students who typically attend school in-person will temporarily switch to remote asynchronous instruction from Nov. 18-20, 2020, with all in-person students learning online at home via Schoology on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week. All scheduled UIL activities will continue as planned. These three Learn @ Home days are still considered school days, which means the academic calendar will not be impacted.

This decision was made proactively as part of the district’s ongoing COVID-19 mitigation process, and is not in response to a “COVID-19 outbreak” nor a significant increase in lab-confirmed COVID-19 case numbers at Melissa Schools. That said, our custodial staff will use this time to deep clean our buildings.

We are grateful that our schools have been able to continue in-person learning for the first three months of school, thanks to a collective mitigation effort by our families and staff. Having all our students learn from home for these three Learn @ Home days will allow for additional physical distancing ahead of Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 23-27), after which we look forward to returning to normal operations.

We thank you for your continued partnership and support of Melissa Schools.

Online Learning Reminders

  • Remote asynchronous instruction is defined by TEA as “instruction that does not require having the instructor and student engaged at the same time. In this method, students learn from instruction that is not necessarily being delivered in-person or in real time”.
  • In order for your student to be counted present when learning online from home, they must log in to Schoology each day and complete their class assignment(s). For instructions on how to log in to Schoology and other online learning resources, visit our Help Center for Online Learners.
