The Lady Cardinal wrestling team traveled to Euless Trinity High School last week to compete in the largest tournament of the Cardinal wrestling season.

The tournament featured tough competition from 5A and 6A schools, including a national champion, numerous state champions, several state medalists, and state qualifiers.

High point wrestler Camille Bogdan led the team, going 3-1 for the tournament and placing third. Makayla Watson and Hastings Fredrick went 3-2 and tied for 5th place in their respective weight classes, both earning team points. Paige Anderson went 1-2 to earn team points. The team finished in 12th place out of 24 teams.

“This tournament was our toughest competition we have faced this year,” said coach Rick Gagarin. “We gained a ton of experience and no one was majorly injured, so I would count this as a success for our goal of getting better for the district tournament.”

The Lady Cardinals compete next at Frisco Heritage on Saturday, Jan. 28.
