Melissa High School Lady Cardinal Volleyball defeated Sanger last Thursday in the Area round of the UIL Volleyball Playoffs. The Lady Cards advance to the Regional Quarter-Finals tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 8 in a match-up with Argyle starting at 6:30 p.m. at Aubrey High School.

Area Recap from Coach DePaolo

After losing the first set in a tight contest 24-26, the Lady Cards won the next three sets at 25-21, 26-24, and 25-21.

The second set was a great win for the Lady Cards. Even though it was not the closest of the four sets, the girls had to dig deep and really depend on each other. With a mistake in the lineup that was turned in at the beginning of the set, Melissa was forced to play in unfamiliar rotations for the entire set. It was a complete team effort to pull off a win in the second set.

A big shout out to Coach McCarter for helping keep Coach DePaolo apprised of who should be where on the court. This help allowed Coach DePaolo to focus on tactics to get through the set.
