Five students from the Melissa High School choir program were recently selected for the 2019 All-Region Choir after auditioning at the All-Region Competition in Gunter.

Madison Courtney, Kaycee Fender, Maisy Gustaveson, Logan Lowery, and Andru Wilson will perform at the 2019 All-Region Clinic and Concert on Monday, Nov. 2, 2019 at the Allen Performing Arts Center. These students will then advance to the Pre-Area Competition on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 at Krum High School.

In preparation for the All-Region Competition, the students learned “Earth Song” by Frank Tichelli Todd and two movements from “Kyrie” by Nicola Porpora. The audition required the singers to perform a small selection from each piece of music, and to sight-read eight measures of music, all before a panel of five judges.

“The Melissa High School choir is very proud to have five of our singers make the 2019 All-Region Choir,” said choir director Ryan Smith.

The community is invited to attend the Fall Choir Concert later this week on Thursday, Oct. 17 featuring performances by the choirs of Melissa High School and Melissa Middle School. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Union at Melissa High School.
