The Harry McKillop Elementary library will sponsor a “Make a ‘Change’ for Australia Drive” from Feb. 10-24, 2020 to help the people and animals affected by the Australian wildfires. During the change drive, students can bring in spare change and add it to their grade level’s bucket found in front of the library. There will be a competition to see which grade level raises the most change.
This project aligns with the theme of kindness at Harry McKillop Elementary, in that students are focused on kindness to themselves, to each other, to animals, and to the earth.
All donations will be divided between Red Cross Australia and WIRES Animal Rescue to support their efforts in: 1) providing food, shelter, and clothing for Australians who lost everything in the fires, and 2) rescuing and rehabilitating animals injured and displaced by the Australian fires.
