Cardinals take 4th place at Van Alstyne Relays

The Melissa High School Cardinal Track and Field team traveled up Highway 5 on Thursday over Spring Break and to compete in the Van Alstyne Panther Relays. The Varsity Cardinals finished in fourth place with 84.5 points. The JV Cardinals also finished in fourth place with 77 points.

Listed below are the top six finishers earning points for both teams:

Varsity Results:

  • 3200M: Elijah Mackey, 1st; Jackson Scribner, 2nd
  • 100M: JaBray Young, 1st; Marvin Jordan, 4th
  • 400M: Matt Hahn, 5th
  • 200M: JaBray Young, 1st; Marvin Jordan, 3rd; Tarek Wallace, 5th
  • 1600M: Elijah Mackey, 1st; Blake Chaloupka, 3rd; Joey Vasquez, 6th
  • Shot: Cale Hayes, 2nd
  • Discus: Cale Hayes, 2nd
  • High Jump: Josh Wood, 5th

JV Results:

  • 110 Hurdles: Brendon Lewis, 3rd
  • 100M: Travon Cook, 4th
  • 400M: Darrion Sherfield, 1st
  • 200M: Darrion Sherfield, 1st
  • Triple Jump: Antjuan Turner, 1st
  • Long Jump: Travon Cook, 1st; Darrion Sherfield, 2nd
  • High Jump: Brendon Lewis, 1st; Travon Cook, 3rd

The Cardinals compete next on March 16 in Farmersville, and then at the Melissa Cardinal Invitational on March 23.
