Cardinal Track and Field tunes up for district at Farmersville, Rockwall meets

The Melissa High School Cardinal Track and Field team took to the track in Farmersville last week for a tune-up meet before district. The Cardinals came away with a second place team finish with 80 points.

Gunnar Murphy competed Friday in the Rockin’ R Relays in Rockwall; another tune up-meet against some 6A competition. Murphy finished first in shot and second in discus with a season best.

“I was very pleased with how our kids competed,” said Coach Travis Roberson. “We got better today and are starting to peak at the right time.”

The Cardinals compete next at the UIL District 11-4A Track & Field Championships in Princeton on Wednesday and Thursday.
