Melissa High School student-athletes, Susan Blake and Trevor Duggan, participated in National Signing Day on Friday, April 5, where they each signed a letter of intent to play a collegiate sport.
Blake and Duggan signed their letters in the Melissa High School gym during mega lunch. Photo ops followed with family members, coaches, teammates, and friends.
Susan Blake signed to play volleyball at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. While on the Lady Cardinal volleyball team, Blake was named Academic All-District for three consecutive years. In 2016, she was named the District 11-4A Offensive Player of the Year and the Lady Cardinal Volleyball MVP. In 2018, she was named 4A All-State and District 11-4A 1st Team All-District.
Blake’s career stats include 1248 kills, 601 digs, and 178 aces.
Trevor Duggan signed to play football at Stephen F. Austin State University. Duggan was a starter at right guard for three years on the Melissa High School varsity football team and is an All-District and All-Texomaland Offensive Lineman. He was a part of multiple playoff teams, including the regional finalist team in 2017. Duggan also competed in powerlifting and track.
“Trevor is one of the hardest-working young men we have had the pleasure of coaching,” said coach Jacob Alford. “We are extremely excited to see what the future holds for him at SFA.”
