Summer Student Workforce Program Logo

Melissa ISD is accepting applications for a new workforce program that will allow students to gain hands-on work experience in technology infrastructure, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing,  and construction generalist. Only 20 spots are available.

Students accepted into the Melissa ISD CTE Student Workforce program will work two assigned 10-hour days per week during summer break and will receive on-the-job training and instruction led by Melissa ISD employee mentors. Upon program completion, students will receive $1,500 with the opportunity to earn an industry-recognized safety certification from the OSHA Education Center. The program is open to Melissa High School students who will turn 16 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2022. Students must be available to work from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 31 through Aug. 4, 2022. In order to participate, the student must:

  • receive permission from a parent/guardian,
  • have reliable transportation to and from work, and
  • complete the online application by May 26, 2022.
