Feb. 3, 2022 @ 10:00 a.m. - Due to continued winter weather and icy road conditions in the area, all Melissa ISD schools and offices will remain closed Thursday, February 3, and Friday, February 4. Extracurricular activities are canceled for both Thursday and Friday. Stay safe and stay warm, Cardinals.
Feb. 2, 2022 @ 1:20 p.m. - After continued monitoring of the predicted weather forecast and area road conditions, and with the safety of our community in mind, the decision has been made to close all Melissa ISD schools and offices on Thursday, February 3. There will be no school or extracurricular activities on Thursday. Regarding Friday, February 4, we will continue to monitor conditions and send further communication on Thursday, as promptly as possible.
This letter was sent electronically to Melissa ISD employees and parents/guardians on Feb. 1, 2022. You can also find the PDF in our "Documents" section under Letters to Parents/Guardians.
Melissa ISD will continue to closely monitor the weather forecast and area road conditions for the remainder of the week (Feb. 2-4) and will make every effort to promptly communicate any unexpected changes to normal school operations, in the event that a two-hour delay or full-day closure is decided upon.
A decision to delay or close school is made with careful consideration of the safety of students, parents/guardians, staff, and notably, our bus drivers. We do not typically send out a notification if schools are open and operating as usual.
To ensure that you receive emergency communication from Melissa ISD, including any weather-related alerts, please log in to the HAC by 10:00 a.m. on Feb. 2 and double-check that your phone number and email address are listed correctly in the “Registration” section of your user profile. If you need assistance with accessing the HAC, please visit www.melissaisd.org/hac or call your child’s school.
In addition to sending a direct alert to all Melissa ISD parents/guardians and staff, we will post any updates on the district website and social media. To learn more about the communication process for unexpected delays and closures at Melissa Schools, visit the School Delays & Closures page.
