a graphic from ESS seeking applications for substitute teaching

The Melissa Schools Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, approving an increase in the pay rates for substitute teachers who serve at Melissa ISD.

This decision was made in an effort to attract and retain qualified substitutes by offering competitive wages compared to other school districts across North Texas. The pay increase was also driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in a shortage of substitute teachers and an increase in employee absences.

The pay rate increases for Melissa ISD substitutes are effective as of Oct. 4.

Melissa ISD partners with ESS to hire, train, and place substitute teachers and aides. Those who are interested in working as a substitute for Melissa Schools must meet the qualifications and complete the online application.
