The second annual Melissa High School student film festival will premiere six new live-action short films, all written and produced by students. The show will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 in the auditorium at the Melissa Arts Center. Live audience voting will follow to determine the fan-favorites in each category. The film festival is free to attend and open to the public.

Note: All student films adhere to UIL One Act Play content standards. However, please be advised that select films in the horror and crime drama genres may be sensitive for younger viewers.

Short films to be screened include "Co-Op", "Ignored", "Lens", "Monster of San Azrael", "Seclusion", and "Set You Free".

More than 40 students from grades 9-12 in the audio/video (AV) production classes at Melissa High School were involved in producing this year’s collection of short films. During the year-long production process, students learned how to write screenplays, develop storyboards and work through the stages of pre-production, production, and post-production.

"From script to screen, our kids have invested a tremendous amount of time and effort in making their visions a reality," shared AV teacher, Randy Kramen. "I am so proud of their hard work, growth, and dedication to filmmaking. This show will take the standard for student film to new heights here in Melissa."
