The Melissa Elementary Fall Carnival raised over $51,000 this year, a record high for the fundraiser and family-fun event.
The carnival has been organized annually by the McKillop Elementary PTO for many years and has historically been one of the largest fundraisers for Harry McKillop Elementary.
For the 2017-18 school year, the McKillop Elementary PTO and the Melissa Ridge PTSO joined forces for the first time and organized a carnival that would support both Harry McKillop Elementary and Melissa Ridge Intermediate.
The four-hour Melissa Elementary Fall Carnival was held at Melissa High School on Oct. 14. According to carnival chair Connie Thompson, the sponsorships, overall ticket sales, silent auction bids, spirit wear sales, and attendance for this year’s carnival were higher than ever before.
“The PTO and PTSO is so grateful for all of your support during the planning stages and of course on the day of Carnival,” said Thompson. “We are all anxious to get together soon to discuss our plans for these funds. I am thrilled just at the thought of how much good we can do for the kids and our schools. Again, thank you for rallying together to make this a fabulous event for MRI and HME!”
