Carpool Safety Reminders
All staff are trained to keep students safe at all times and work hard at doing so. We need your help to bring our carpool safety to the next level. As the school year goes by, there is a tendency to get complacent with our expectations and, as drivers, to forget some very important procedures we have in place.
Thank you for your cooperation as we keep everyone’s safety our top priority.

New Afternoon Carpool Procedures
With safety in mind, new afternoon carpool procedures for the 2017-18 school year will take effect on the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 28 at Harry McKillop Elementary.
The following information and items will be available on the student’s desk during Meet the Teacher on Thursday, Aug. 24, which families can attend from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. or 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Each child has been assigned a carpool number that will remain the same during their time as a student at Harry McKillop Elementary. Each family will receive TWO (2) windshield stickers per child that feature the child’s number. This sticker must be placed on the car windshield, on the passenger side, in the bottom corner.
- Stickers are not easily reproduced and are designed to maximize safety during carpool.
- Please make sure that the sticker is fixed to the windshield with no obstructions.
- If you sell the car, make sure to remove the sticker from the windshield.
NOTE: If your family has more than one child at Harry McKillop Elementary, all children will be assigned the same number.
Additionally, each family will receive ONE (1) mirror tag per child that features the child’s number. This tag can be used in the event that the car with the sticker is not being used in carpool. It can also be given to a friend or family member who is picking up the child.
- Tags are not easily reproduced and are designed to maximize safety during carpool.
- Tags that are photocopied or reproduced in any way will not be accepted.
- No extra mirror tags will be given out. Please keep the tag in a safe place.
- Special thanks to OrthodonTEX for donating our carpool tags for students and parents.
No Sticker/Tag = No Carpool Pickup
The child’s number on a sticker or tag will be the ONLY acceptable identifier during carpool. If there is no sticker or tag present during carpool, you will be required to report to the front office to be identified before picking up your child.
Please exercise caution. If a sticker or tag is compromised in any way, please let the school know immediately.
Each family will receive a Transportation Card to fill out for each child attending Harry McKillop Elementary. More details about the Transportation Card will be provided at Meet the Teacher.
