The Lady Cardinal wrestling team stayed busy over the holidays as they competed in the Wylie Invitational over the district’s winter break.
The team took six wrestlers to the 6A tournament and finished in 4th place, with five wrestlers winning medals. Sarah Keeton and Jessica Gonzales both took home 3rd place medals, while tournament champions in their respective weight classes were Landry Legg, Kayla Stevenson, and Alyssa Rose who brought home the gold.
According to coach Rick Gagarin, the Lady Cards achieved the highest number of Melissa High School medalists at a wrestling tournament in the school’s history.
The Lady Cards start their new year off by wrestling at Carrollton Newman Smith against Smith and another district school on Thursday, Jan. 5.
