Melissa Schools welcomed over 40 new teachers to the district Monday morning during New Teacher Orientation.
Superintendent Keith Murphy introduced the executive leadership team and spoke about the district’s mission, vision, and core values.
“This district is built on two things: love and compassion,” Murphy said. “It is my expectation to move every child forward. … We will allow our kids to make mistakes, and we will grow them.”
Deputy Superintendent Dr. Robert Rich spoke about the district’s emphasis on continuous improvement, using a common understanding to drive conversations, and keeping gratitude at the forefront.
“Your impact will be much greater than you think it will be,” Dr. Rich said.
New Teacher Orientation continues through Tuesday, and all Melissa Schools teachers return for professional development later this week. Students return for the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 28.
