Melissa Schools welcomes Michele Austin as the new assistant principal at Harry McKillop Elementary, beginning with the 2016-17 school year.
An educator for 20 years, Austin has served as a teacher for grades 3-6. For the last 12 years, she served as a K-5 elementary counselor at Plano ISD.
Austin earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Baylor University, Master’s degree in School Counseling from Dallas Baptist University, and Principal Certification from Lamar University.
Austin spoke Monday of her new position at Melissa Schools.
“It is a tremendous honor to serve the families and staff of Harry McKillop Elementary,” Austin said Monday. “I am excited about the opportunity to work with Mr. Perez and the HME staff to bring out the best in every child on our campus. My mission is to know every child by their name and individual needs. I can’t wait to meet everyone in the Cardinal family!”
Michele Austin and her husband, Jeff, have been married since 1997 and have two children; Abby, 11th grade, and Aidan, 5th grade.
