Melissa Schools welcomes Marcus Eckert as the new assistant principal at Melissa Middle School, beginning with the 2016-17 school year.
Eckert currently serves at Liberty High School in Frisco as a Career and Technology teacher and head coach for boys’ basketball, in addition to coordinating middle school programs.
Of his new position at Melissa Schools, Eckert said, “I am extremely honored and thankful for the opportunity to join the students, staff, and community on the continued path of excellence that Melissa ISD has established. I’m proud to be a Melissa Cardinal!”
Jim Miller, principal at Melissa Middle School, spoke Thursday of the hiring process, Eckert’s selection, and a bright future for the school.
“The Melissa Middle School campus is proud that Marcus Eckert will be joining the Cardinal family,” Miller said. “The application process was rich with experienced, capable, dynamic candidates. Mr. Eckert clearly separated himself to our hiring committee and stands alone as the best choice.
Mr. Eckert brings with him years of relevant leadership experience from Frisco ISD, where his integrity and work ethic led to multiple successes with students and colleagues alike.
It is fortunate that we belong to a district that attracts high quality educators, such as Mr. Eckert, and we are eager to begin collaborating with him to accelerate an already thriving campus.”
