Melissa Middle School student Judson Greer was named one of 87 outstanding young student leaders from across the state of Texas who successfully completed membership in Education in Action’s 2015-16 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council.
Greer first participated in the Lone Star Leadership Academy, a weeklong leadership development summer camp, and then as a graduate was invited to join the alumni program, where he received leadership training during the 2015-16 school year.
As part of the alumni program, Greer was tasked with identifying a community need and creating and leading at least two others in a service project of his choosing.
Greer recruited two of his brothers to help restock the Melissa Food Pantry with much needed food items, and together they collected over 350 of the pantry’s most wanted items to help residents of Melissa and surrounding areas.
Reflecting on this project, Greer said, “I learned how to better manage my time and that helping the community can be harder than it sounds; but in the end, it’s all worth it.”
Alexandra Eichel, Greer’s sponsor and former teacher added, “Judson is a great student. He is hardworking and respectful towards all. His desire to learn and be the best he can be shows what a great leader he is. Judson is always looking for ways to better himself, his school, and the community.”
