Melissa High School student athletes Bryanna Hernandez and Tarek Wallace signed letters of intent as part of National Signing Day on Thursday.
Boys’ Athletic Director Seth Stinton and Track and Field Coach Ted Mackey introduced the athletes, speaking to their achievements and college plans.
Friends and family members joined Hernandez and Wallace as they each signed in the Melissa High School gym.
Bryanna Hernandez, who transferred to Melissa High School for her senior year, signed to run track at Southern Methodist University. Her achievements include a fourth place finish in the 100m dash at regionals; being a key leg on the 4x200m relay team, which set a new school record; and helping to advance the 4x400m relay team to the Regional Championship.
“She is also a very intelligent, responsible, and driven student,” shared Coach Ted Mackey. “Her career goals are to be a criminal defense attorney and eventually a judge.”
Tarek Wallace was named First Team All-District Outside Linebacker and signed to play football at Howard Payne University.
