The Melissa High School cheerleading program traveled to the Fort Worth Convention Center last week to compete in the third annual UIL Spirit State Championships.
The Melissa Cardinals, led by captain Claire Miller and under the direction of coach Michelle Cruce-Malone, competed in the all-level coed division, which included 1A through 6A teams. Melissa broke into the top 10 and finished in sixth place overall.
“With only four males on our team, this was a tough division for us, but a flawless performance resulted in high scores,” said Cruce-Malone.
