Melissa CTE students compete at SkillsUSA contest, advance to state

CTE Student Participants in 2019 SkillsUSA Contest

Fourteen students from Melissa High School traveled to Waco on Friday to compete at the district level of the SkillsUSA Texas Leadership and Skills contest. A number of students placed in the top three in their contest area and will advance to the state competition in April.

Jackie Geis and Josh Spowart earned a Superior score in Animation with a total of 95 points. Isabella Coulombe earned a Superior score in Cosmetology/Fantasy with a total of 100 points.

Robert Lane Abbott placed first in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Trevor Duggan placed third.

Victor Josh Chaires, Isabella Coulombe, James Dagley, and Ben Witvote placed third in their respective categories: Major Appliance Service, Cosmetology/Esthetics, Computer Programming, and Criminal Justice.
