The Melissa High School Lady Cardinal Track and Field team traveled down Highway 5 to Ron Poe Stadium on Saturday to compete in the 10th Annual Boyd Relays.
The meet consisted of 18 teams, most of which were 5A and 6A schools. The Lady Cards collected several medals and set a school record in the 1600m Sprint Medley Relay, finishing thirteenth overall as a team.
Coming off a state-qualifying cross country season, freshman Alison Kocsis beat 12 other runners with a time of 12:52.91 in the 3200m run.
Senior Karrington Lewis captured the silver medal in the varsity division for the 100m dash, running a time equal to her school record of 12.19. Senior Bryanna Hernandez captured the gold medal in the junior varsity division with a time of 12.79.
Senior Priscilla Adejokun tossed the shot put 41’6″ on her way to a gold medal performance.
The Lady Cardinal 1600m Sprint Medley Relay team included junior Natalie Courtney, senior Karrington Lewis, senior Maddie Kane, and senior Gill Gray. The team set a new school record with a time of 4:27.13.
The Lady Cardinals compete this Saturday, March 4 at the Lovejoy Invitational and again on Thursday, March 9 at the Van Alstyne Invitational.
