Dallas-Fort Worth-based home builder, History Maker Homes, has donated $2,500 to Melissa elementary schools.
The funds will be used by Harry McKillop Elementary and North Creek Elementary to purchase additional licenses for the IXL learning program, providing supplemental learning tools for students in the areas of math, language arts, science, and social studies.
To “pay it forward”, the two schools have organized “Hats for Hunger” – a month-long fundraiser benefiting North Texas Feed the Need, with a combined fundraising goal of $2,500. Every Friday in November, elementary students can donate one dollar in exchange for wearing a hat all day at school.
Students are asked to turn in any “Hats for Hunger” donations to their teacher. All proceeds will be donated to North Texas Feed the Need.
North Texas Feed the Need is a local nonprofit organization that serves food to school-aged children with food insecurities in Melissa and Anna. To learn more about the organization, visit www.ntftn.org.
