Middle and high school parents and students who are interested in learning more about the referral process for the Melissa Schools Gifted and Talented program are encouraged to attend a referral night for grades 6-12 on Thursday, Oct. 11.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the Home Office, located at 1904 Cooper Street.
Topics of discussion will include the testing process, characteristics of gifted students versus the high achiever, and an overview of services provided by each campus.
The Gifted and Talented referral window for students in grades 6-12 is Oct. 8-19, 2018.
The referral window for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade is Dec. 1-21, 2018. A referral night for elementary families will be announced later this fall.
Gifted and Talented students are those who perform at or show the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who exhibit high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area, possess an unusual capacity for leadership, and/or excel in a specific academic field.
