Gifted and Talented introductory meeting scheduled for Oct. 10

Individuals interested in referring a student for testing for the Melissa ISD Gifted and Talented program are invited to attend an introductory informational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Board Room at the Home Office at 1904 Cooper Street.

Topics being discussed include: the testing process, characteristics of gifted students versus the high achiever, and an overview of services provided by each campus.

The referral window for students in grades K-5 is Dec. 1-22. For students in grades 6-12, the referral window is Oct. 1-20.

Gifted and Talented Students by Definition

Gifted and Talented students are those who perform at or show the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who exhibit high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area, possess an unusual capacity for leadership, and/or excel in a specific academic field.
