Four students from the Melissa High School choir program were selected for the All-Region Choir after auditioning last week at the All-Region Competition in Gunter.
Madison Courtney, Paris Church, Andru Wilson, and Rachel Wresh will perform at the All-Region Clinic and Concert on Nov. 3 at the Allen Performing Arts Center, before advancing to the Pre-Area Competition on Nov. 12 at Gunter High School.
In preparation for the All-Region Competition, the students learned “In This Place” by Will Todd and two movements from “Zigeunerlieder” by Johannes Brahms. The audition required the singers to perform a small selection from each piece of music, and to sight-read eight measures of music, all before a panel of five judges.
“The Melissa High School choir is very proud to have four of our singers make the All-Region Choir,” said choir director Ryan Smith.
Next week on Tuesday, Oct. 23, the community is invited to attend the Fall Choir Concert featuring performances by the choirs of Melissa High School and Melissa Middle School. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Union at Melissa High School.
